Cricket Newfoundland and Labrador will be holding their play-offs this coming weekend, September 15 and 16th. Two trophies are up for grabs. The Saini Cup (named after current Cricket Canada president Ranjit Saini) is contested between the League Champions and runners up in a best of three match series. This year the unbeaten Avengers will take on the Eagles in the finals.
The Herringshaw-Liverman Cup (named after Liam Herringshaw one of the founders of Cricket NL, and Dave Liverman, also a founder member and current President) is played between the third and fourth placed teams. This is a one-off match, to be played this year between the Newfoundland Super Kings and the Royal Challengers.
The schedule is:
Saturday 15 September
- 11:00 am Avengers v Eagles; Saini Cup, Game 1
- 2:30-3 pm: Presentation of league awards (special guest Mayor Danny Breen and Councillor Debbie Hanlon)
- 3 pm Herringshaw Cup match: NSK v Royal Challengers
Sunday 16 September
- 11 am: Saini Cup, Match 2
- 3 pm: Saini Cup match 3 if required.
Matches are played at the RCAF ground, RCAF Road (off Torbay Road). All are welcome, admission is free.
