Praveen Manhas and Rahul Vashishtha attended the national T20 event, held in Toronto August 15-17. Sixty-five players from across the country were split into four teams to play a series of matches. The teams players included most of the current national team squad, as well as other talented cricketers from across the country. Praveen and Rahul were assigned to the same team, captained by national team player (and recent star of the Global T20 final) Saad Bin Zafar. Their team also included former national captain Rizwan Cheema. Unfortunately in the very first match Rahul injured his knee attempting a catch, and was unable to play any further part in the games. We wish him a speedy recovery, and we’re sure that this highly talented player will get another chance to make his make nationally soon. Praveen played in all four matches his team had (the last day was washed out) and performed very well, bowling 8 overs, conceding 43 runs and taking 4 wickets. The highlight was being asked to bowl the 18th and 20th over against two top players both well set and looking to build a big total. He dismissed both (Varun Sehdev, national team player, and Davy Jacobs, a very experienced professional with 14 first-class hundreds) conceding only 7 runs. Congratulations to him on a fine performance.
