The nets can only be booked by club representatives who are part of the nets booking Whatsapp group.
The nets will remain locked when not in use. Information on access is again via the nets booking Whatsapp group.
Only members who have registered for 2021 are permitted to use the facility
COVID-19
The following arrangements apply to use of the nets whilst the province remains under COVID-19 alert. Any club that disregards these guidelines risks losing net access.
Members must have filled in this COVID-19 awareness form before participating.
In order to enable contact tracing, clubs must provide a list of those who participated at a practice by e-mail within 24 hours of the conclusion of the booking; failure to do so will result in cancellation of future bookings.
General
- All public health measures required by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador will be respected at all times.
- No participant can be symptomatic – fever, cough, or difficulty breathing; or have had contact with any person who has tested positive in the prior 2 weeks.
- Any participant feeling unwell should stay home.
- All current isolation protocols must be respected (quarantine after travel etc.)
- Activity can only take place if the club has adequate supplies of hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and if specified, personal protective equipment.
- Those considered in a vulnerable group based on age, underlying medical conditions, or sharing a household with those considered vulnerable should not take part until Alert 1 is reached.
- An accurate record of participants (including multiple methods of contact) must be kept in order to enable contact tracing in the event of a positive test from a participant.
Nets and practice:
- Hand sanitizer must be available for all participants; dilute bleach or alcohol and paper towels available for cleaning shared equipment.
- Shared equipment must be cleaned with an appropriate disinfectant between uses. Note that proper cleaning of batting gloves and helmets requires a careful and painstaking cleaning process which is not possible in the nets environment; therefore participants must provide their own personal gloves and helmets
- Fielding practices need to be planned so as to respect social distancing, and hand sanitizer needs to be used frequently to prevent potential transmission via the ball. It is recommended that fielders use small personal bottles of hand sanitizer carried with them. Participants should self monitor, and monitor other participants to avoid touching face with hands after touching the ball.
- Bowlers to main adequate social distance while waiting their turn to bowl.
- Bowlers bowl with one ball only for the entire practice, returned to them by batsmen wearing gloves, or preferably hit back with the bat, or kicked.
- Balls should be rubbed with hand sanitizer, bleach or soap and water before and after use
- Nets must be vacated at the scheduled time, unless there is no subsequent booking. There is a 15 minute gap between net bookings to allow one group to leave before the arrival of the next club.
- No more than one batsman and three bowlers in single bay at one time, eight people in total inside the nets area; other participants can be preparing / warming up outside the net area. Total number present at one time 14 people
- Fielding practice limited to 10 people. Only practice allowed is that respects the 2 m social distance.
- Inactive participants should wear non-medical face masks
General
Usage is for paid up Cricket NL members in good standing.
Non members need to join the organization before using the nets in order to be covered by insurance. Guests can join practice at their own risk, but non members who wish to practice regularly must join Cricket NL.

Members must leave nets clean and tidy. Any problems with the facility, equipment or cleanliness should be reported to the Cricket NL board.
Safety
Safe operating procedure should be used at all times. Please ensure gate to nets is closed when practice is underway (during COVID-19 restrictions the gate should be left open to avoid a high touch surface), and that spectators are outside the netting or fully aware of practice. There is a serious risk of injury from hard hit straight drives.
Any batsman facing pace bowling with the hard ball must wear protective equipment.
Practice must be conducted in a responsible manner at all times.
If there are vehicles parked in line with the nets, or members of the public using the vulnerable area, practice must be restricted with no intentional lofted hits. Any batsman contravening this practice will be asked to leave the batting area immediately.
Booking:
Cricket NL bookings take priority over club events.
Club bookings:
Bookings must be placed on the Cricket NL calendar (see below) to be considered valid, or agreed on the Whatsapp group. Bookings can only be made 7 days in advance of the desired slot (i.e a 4 pm Saturday slot cannot be booked until or after 4 pm the previous Saturday).
Booking slots;
- Maximum 1:45 hour booking on weekend, 90 minutes during week.
- Clubs can book one exclusive slot per week (both nets); additional bookings must accommodate other members by providing access to one net during practice.
- Each club can book one weekend slot, one mid-week slot.
- Bookings can be first come first served if open 24 hours prior to session – i.e if a 10-12 Sunday slot is not booked by 10 Saturday it is open to all to book.
- Weekend slots; 10-11:45, 12-1:45, 2-3:45, 4-5:45; 6-7:45.
- Mid week slots; 5-6:30, 6:45-8:15
Nets must be vacated promptly if another team is waiting.
When allocated by booking to a club, other Cricket NL members should not interfere with the other club’s practices and maintain decorum. Clubs can choose to integrate other Cricket NL members into their practice sessions.
Any member in good standing can use the nets facility when not booked by a club or Cricket NL, but should book times on the nets calendar through board members, or club managers or captains to avoid conflicts, and to ensure Cricket NL is aware of who is using the nets.
Cricket NL reserves the right to ban any member from using the nets facilities if they have has been found abusing and misusing them. This could be one such incident or accumulations of multiple events based on the severity of the event.
The Cricket NL discipline policy applies to the nets.

Kit policy (Suspended during COVID-19 restrictions)
Cricket NL maintains a basic set of kit for use by its members. It is available for use for matches and for net practice. The kit does not include bats, balls or personal protective equipment. There is a second set of kit for use by youth players, which contains a helmet, harrow sized bat, gloves and pads.
The kit is mostly for the use of teams entered in the Summer League, and the HP programme/ provincial team. Individuals may also request use of the kit, but must be members in good standing with Cricket NL, and have the use approved by the board.
Conditions of use
The kit must be signed out, and whenever transferred signed in again.
A sign-out book must be kept with the kit at all times and will contain a list of equipment. Any person signing for the kit has a responsibility to check if all kit is in the bag and is in good condition. If on sign out/ in/ transfer any equipment is damaged (beyond normal wear and tear) or missing then the previous holder of the kit is responsible for replacing the item(s) missing with those of equivalent or better quality. Failure to do this within a reasonable time period means that the team responsible will be no longer in good standing with Cricket NL until the situation is remedied.
