The Association was established in mid 2010. No facilities for hard-ball cricket were in place, so the main activities consisted of social tape-ball cricket at Kelly’s Brook Park, with two exhibition matches.
The very first match was played under lights at King George V park, where the Newfoundland B’ys lost to the Labrador Ducks by 27 runs. Thanks to founding board member, Liam Herringshaw, we have copies of the original scorebook. Gurman Khurana was man of the match, with a spectacular 72 not out, with 8 sixes. Gurman of course is still playing in our leagues, and we still have a few others still active who played in that first match, including Cricket NL’s first president Luftor Rahman, Rakesh Negi, Ayaz Ghani, and Shaifaan Ahmed
