To end the outdoor season, Cricket NL partnered with MUN Faculty of Education in arranging a Faculty match at RCAF field on Saturday (26 September).
Professors, graduate students and undergraduate students from the Faculty braved cool temperatures to take part in the game- at least the forecasted rain and ice pellets held off until later in the day. After a coaching session led by provincial team members, the players were divided into two teams (the Shamrocks and the Kings) for a 10 over match.
The NL Kings won the toss, decided to bat first and made 85 runs in ten overs. Shamrocks achieved the target in the last over.
Barrie Barrel, Tim, Gabriel Young and Paul Grasby bated well, Jennifer Anderson, Walter Okshevsky, and Allan showed aptitude with the ball.
Barrie was announced man of the match with three wickets and 15 runs. The Dean of the Faculty of Education Kirk Anderson also participated and provided some words of appreciation at the end of the game.
