We are delighted to announce that the recent grant from the City of St. John’s for nets construction has been followed by a $5000 grant from the Provincial government to support purchase of a Nottsport Powerplay artificial wicket (see the Nottsport web site for details). The board has approved the additional expenditure required for both projects, and the mat is now ordered. We hope to have both mat and nets ready for the start of the outdoor season. We’ve been told the powerplay system is a significant improvement on our current pitch, with better bounce, support for spin and seam, and less slippery in the damp. The two projects have impacted our cash reserves, so the Board is actively seeking sponsorship, and is planning fund-raising events.
