The Provincial team will travel to Charlottetown next week to compete in the Eastern Canadian T20 championships, playing against Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and hosts PEI July 19-21.
The team combines experience with some new faces – seven of the squad will be taking part in their first inter-provincial championships, but two (Rakesh Negi and Gurman Khurana) appeared in Cricket NL’s first provincial team in 2010. Coach Nick Baxter believes that this team has an excellent chance of reaching the final of the tournament. “This is probably the strongest team the province has ever sent to the Eastern Canadian tournament, with an excellent balance of strong batting, and a variety of talented bowlers. The team has worked very hard to improve fitness levels, and we know we can beat any team there if we perform to our potential”

• Friday, July 19 2:30 pm v PEI
• Saturday, July 20. 8 am v Quebec; 5:30 pm v Nova Scotia
• Sunday 21 July, 10 am v New Brunswick; final, 2 pm.
