The Wolves – Royal Challengers match got underway in challenging conditions- single digit temperatures and an outfield damp after over-night rain Wolves batted first and their total of 124/7 was built around Aryan Falke’s 48 with Jagbir Singh Aulakh contributing 19*. Shashi Parbhane had the outstanding figures of 4-0-7-3, and Manvir Mann also took two wickets. The bowling was disciplined, only conceding 12 wides, a big improvement.
Ranvir Rana continued to show excellent form with the bat, smashing 66 from 35 balls. When he was dismissed in the 12th over, Royal Challengers had victory in sight, and ran out winners by 7 wickets in 12.2 overs. By the time Tigers batted first against NSK, conditions had improved, the sun was out, and the field dry. Maanik Arora, another bat in top form, led the way with 53 from 33 balls, and when he was out with the score on 84, Arafat Un Nabi (39*) and Imran Ahmed (39*) maintained the momentum with a partnership of 76, taking Tigers to 161/4 from their 20 overs.
The Tigers had NSK in trouble when they batted, taking the first five wickets for 44 runs, with Junayed Tushar and Masrur Habib Talha taking two each. Shammi Khan (20) and Rakesh Negi (19) staged a recovery but with the required run rate rising both were caught in the deep by Fahad Hossain off the bowling of Ibnul Inan Chowdhury. Raza Riaz hit hard for 32*, but the match was out of reach, NSK made 131/8, a Tigers win by 30. Masrur Habib Talha took 2/14 from his four overs.

The win assures the Tigers of a place in the top four, and despite the loss, NSK’s 4 and 2 record also means they cannot finish lower than 4th.
The final match of the day pitted Stars against Hurricanes, both looking for their first T20 win of the season. The match was dominated by Gurman Khurana, who made 120* from 71 balls, taking Hurricanes to 218/2 when they batted first. He put on 98 with Wahidur Rahman (47) and 117 with Bishal Biswas (23). This is Gurman’s second century in summer league matches. The Stars batted out their overs, making 3131/9, Taran Singh making 42. Riki Davison took 3 wickets.

The picture of the second round is now taking shape, with Tigers, NSK and Royal Challengers guaranteed a top four finish, and Hurricanes and Stars headed for the lower division. The final top four spot will be decided next week, with the Eagles needing a win or Wolves needing to win, Eagles to lose and a big improvement in net run rate.
