Hurricanes marked their second consecutive win in the 40 overs tournament beating Royal Challengers Newfoundland by 24 runs in a low scoring game.
Hurricanes won the toss and elected to bat first in the morning. Wahidur Rahman (41) and Faisal Fahim (34) gave an excellent start to Hurricanes with a 76 rrs opening stand in 14.5 overs. However, the Royal challenger’s bowlers came back impressively. They started bowling in proper channels and managed to take the last seven wickets for just 34 runs, helped by good catching. Nobody could reach double figures except Md Rafid (11) after the openers left. Eventually, Hurricanes bowled out for only 144 runs in 31.4 overs.
In reply, Royal Challengers never looked comfortable in the chase losing both in form openers Ranvir Singh Rana and Amit Negandhi to Ruyel Miah’s bowling for only 27 runs. Wickets kept falling at both ends and RC fell to 50 for 6 in just 13 overs. Very good resistance from Param Singh (43) with Maulik Patel (11 off 35) and Vandit Gary (1 off 19) kept them in the match.
Shakib Ruhul (2/17) dismissed Param Singh and Hurricanes won by 24 runs. Ruyel Miah (3/20 economy 2.5), Mahe Alam Chowdhury (3/28, economy 3.5), and Wahidur Rahman (2/21, economy 3.2), bowled 23 overs and conceded only 69 runs Three crucial catches taken by Ruyel Miah.
