The Hurricanes and Wolves got Division 2 under way in the first match of the weekend. The Hurricanes got off to a flying start with a 100 run partnership in 12.3 overs between Gurman Khurana (80) and Wahidur Rahman (44). Aryan Falke had Gurman stumped with the score on 145, and then took three more wickets as the Hurricanes failed to take full advantage of the strong start. Their final score was 180/6 with Aryan taking 4/31. The Wolves innings followed a similar pattern with Akash and Amandeep (32) putting together an opening stand of 108. Akash continued after Amandeep was dismissed, and completed his first century in Newfoundland, a splendid 128* as Wolves won by 7 wickets in the 18th over. Akash was the obvious choice for Indus Eatery player of the match.
The Tigers won a closely contested match with the Eagles by 16 runs as Division 1 got under way. The Eagles started well with the ball, reducing the Tigers to 33/3, with their top two bats gone cheaply. Tigers fought back, led by Junaid Tushar (37) and Fahad Hossain (44) and were bowled out for 144. Najaf Raza took an impressive 4/20. The Eagles chase started poorly, falling to 48/5 but Najaf made 67, supported by 18 from Khurram to fight back- to no avail as they totalled 128/7. Tigers bowling was led by Maanik Arora with 3/23.
Royal Challengers took on NSK in the final match of the day, batting first and making 135/8. Ranvir Rana (36) and Amit Neghandi put on 50 for the first wicket and Param Singh made 31. Rakesh Negi took 3/24, and Vaishal Patel 3/20. NSK knocked off the runs in 15.5 overs, led by 43 from Rakesh Negi, supported by Vaishal Patel (24) snd Talha Riaz 22.
