August 14 started with a close shave for the Wolves with a narrow win over Stars. NL Stars batted first and posted 133 in the 20 overs with 40 extras contributing. Kathan took 4 wickets and Aman and Aryan took 2 each. In reply, Aryan Falk (60) and Kathan Shah (34) were top scorers for the Wolves. Akhil Shaji bowled well for 4/18/2 but could not help Stars win.
In the 2nd match, NSK had a comfortable win over Eagles. NSK batted first with Talha (72) and Vishal (60) putting on an excellent opening partnership. The team ended up scoring 177/3 in the 20 overs. In reply, Adeel (36), Raheel (26) and Najaf (35) put on a brave fight but NSK bowlers took wickets at the right time to stop the Eagles at 149 at the end of 20 overs. NSK is 2nd on the summer league table.
The last match on Saturday saw the table toppers NL tigers and Royal Challengers match. In the last meeting RC had chased down a big total but this time it was different. NL Tigers came out firing with Maanik (65) and Ali (68) putting up a good opening partnership. Arafat (23) and Fahad (41) contributing in the latter half of the innings to put up 235/5 for RC to chase. In reply, RC had a good start with Ranvir (41) scoring from 14 balls and 31 runs from one over. However, soon NL tigers spinners dominated the show with Junayed taking 4 wickets and Ibnul and Nahin taking 2 each. NL tigers moves closer to the T20 Summer League trophy with the win.
Sunday saw 40 over match between Hurricanes and Wolves. Wolves batted first with Aakash (28) and Aman (41) giving them a good start. However, Hurricanes bowlers Madhu (8/7/3) and Masud (8/32/4) bowled excellently to bring the Hurricanes back with good support from Rakesh Negi (6/19/1) and Rahib (1.2/1/2) to restrict the wolves to 118 in 34 overs. In response, Hurricanes scored the runs in 17 overs with top scores Wahid (47) and Gurman (63). The next weekend will see Hurricanes and Tigers battle it out for the T40 trophy.
