Cricket Newfoundland and Labrador has been awarded a $7500 grant from the City of St. John’s to construct a practice facility at Wishingwell Park. The plan is to construct two nets using chain link fencing re-purposing one of the existing tennis courts located off Stamps Lane. Cricket NL will supply appropriate playing surfaces. This will allow safe practice using hard balls as soon as outdoors conditions allow. Although not as convenient as Kelly’s Brook Park, the nets will be an easy walk from the University, have parking adjacent to them, and will be usable by all members. Construction time lines need to be determined but the work likely will take less than a week once started.
