The Stars and Hurricanes got the 40 overs league underway on a beautiful day for cricket. It turned out to be an excellent contest, with the Hurricanes prevailing by just 6 runs. Hurricanes batted first and after 9 balls had lost three wickets. Mahe Alam Chowdhury (31) and Bishal Biswas (35) put on 59 for the 5th wicket, and Gurman Khurana contributed 32* as they were bowled out for 158 in the 29th over. Pardeep Dhillon led the Stars bowling with 3/29.
Minhaj Shunjaruff led the Stars reply with 44, well supported by Pardeep Dhillon (30), and at 137/6 Stars looked to be favourites. Mahe Alam Chowdhury took two of the last four wickets, and a run out sealed the Stars fate.
